FR-44 & SR-22
Need a filing to get your license back? We’ll find a carrier, file the certificate with the state and explain exactly what you need to keep it in place. No judgment, in English or Spanish.
The short answer
FR-44 and SR-22 aren’t types of insurance. They’re certificates your insurance company files with the state to prove you carry required liability coverage. Florida requires an FR-44 after a DUI conviction, with liability limits of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident for injuries and $50,000 for property damage. An SR-22 is required after certain other violations and carries lower limits.
| FR-44 | SR-22 | |
|---|---|---|
| Usually required after | A DUI conviction | Driving without insurance, serious violations, too many points or certain suspensions |
| Bodily injury liability | $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident | $10,000 per person / $20,000 per accident |
| Property damage liability | $50,000 | $10,000 |
| Typical length | 3 years | 3 years |
You can still meet the requirement with a non-owner policy that carries the filing. It’s often the most affordable route to getting your license back.
Usually three years from the date your license is reinstated. Your DHSMV paperwork lists the exact requirement for your case.
Your carrier is required to notify the state, and your license can be suspended again. Keep payments current, and call us before making any changes to the policy.
Yes. A non-owner policy can carry the FR-44 or SR-22 filing so you can reinstate your license.
